The UK Commission for Consistent Learning (UK-CCL) is a unique verification organisation. To this end, UK-CCL has on its panel highly qualified international professionals as Examiners, Assessors and Validators. They are all members of the Executive Board of Examiners & Assessors (UK-CCL-EBEA). The UK-CCL is an independent international knowledge qualification consortium, registered in Europe (United Kingdom). Its purpose is to encourage Professional Knowledge Qualifications in every country to promote sound quality business principles. The concept of UK-CCL has become the most important point of reference for individual candidates, companies, and colleges and universities concerned, about the high quality standard of professional Knowledge Learning. Accreditation of Career Progress Development (ACPD)


Introduction

Unlike traditional Knowledge Learning systems, our role is not simply that of classroom oriented training, but taking into consideration of life long work experience in offering Professional Knowledge awards. We endeavour to deliver quality learning that is related to the cutting edge of research, industry and management practice. We translate people’s wide range of experience and working with management teams, into a learning experience that matches the expectations of a premier training establishment.

The opportunities within UK CCL enable individuals to progress in Higher Knowledge Learning at all levels of Learning including postgraduate programmes offered by the appointed awarding institutions. A further bonus of this the added advantage of obtaining Professional Membership with recognised Professional Bodies of UK. Learning can be certified, but most of the learning at work, home or in the community often is not. This is the sad truth. There are millions of individual in this world with knowledge and skills but their expertise is not taken into consideration and given credence just because they do not have formal Knowledge Learning. Taking this into account, UK CCL has developed a scheme called Accreditation of Career Progress Development (ACPD) by helping candidates to gain recognition of what they have learnt and acquired and by offering credit units towards a professional knowledge qualifications.

WHO IS THIS SCHEME FOR?


Lifelong Learning and Continuing Professional Development are the two main phrases that can be used to describe and emphasise changes taking place in Knowledge Learning and training. Adults who seek an opportunity to enhance their career prospects can apply to come under the Accreditation of Career Progress Development (ACPD) scheme. ACPD could support your personal and professional development. The ACPD scheme is an alternate towards the path to Universities and Professional Bodies. This scheme would be very suitable for busy working professionals who have an abundance of knowledge, skill and ability. All candidates will be scrutinised to show if they possess evidence of this attainment/quality, before being considered for the scheme and the particular award.


Thus, high calibre and dynamic candidates, who have acquired and developed their skills through career progress development programmes, would be awarded professional degrees through the Accreditation of Career Progress Development (ACPD) scheme. In addition to the vast knowledge and expertise that they have, candidates would be required to submit a Project Paper in their area of work and expertise, to complete the final qualification. ACPD encourages:

  • Developing one’s profession in learning while earning.
  • Changing directions and having a breakthrough into higher paths in one’s career which up to now seemed impossible.

COURSE BENCHMARK


UK CCL has developed a process that helps candidates to put together a claim to fulfil entry requirements or to garner professional degree credits by matching their current and prior learning against the specific requirements of a particular award. The ACPD is designed to encourage candidates to have their skills Recognised; Reflect on learning acquired from paid and voluntary work; Review whether learning matches the requirements of the qualification sought; and Prepare a claim for its application and award. The Universities and Professional Bodies appointed by UK CCL acknowledge the validity and credibility of the Accreditation of Career Progress Development to evaluate skills, knowledge and experience of a busy working professional.


PROCEDURE TO ACQUIRE PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS


Candidates who wish to obtain a professional qualification would be given individual advice, guidance and the options available. Candidates are free to select the appropriate method depending on their work area and expertise. Candidates are encouraged to identify the discipline and speciality that they want to develop further and the professional award that they would like to achieve. A decision would be made via the initial interview session wherein the candidate concerned would chose on the discipline and the level of professional qualification that he/she desires.

ACPD PROCESS STAGES


Receive Complete Applications and Initial Screening:

The following documents are have to be completed and submitted for initial screening and acceptance.


  • APEL Application form
  • Detailed Resume or CV, as per format, based on the following guidelines:
  • Name, Address, Date of Birth, Marital Status, Academic Qualifications, Professional Qualifications, Training Acquired and Courses Attended, other activities and hobbies,       Employment Record, Two References - one for character reference (not relative), Employer’s Recommendation towards applicant’s suitability for the scheme.
  • Photocopies of Qualifications and Certificates.
  • Photocopies of letters related to work experience.
  • Two passport sized colour photographs
  • Registration fee (non refundable) payable to UK COMMISSION FOR CONSISTENT LEARNING

Interview

An interview, Individual Advice Session (IAS) would be called for by an assessor of UK-CCL to discuss and advice candidates as to their suitability in regard to their chosen discipline. The IAS would also assist in identifying the current knowledge and skills of the candidate and the contributions that ACPD would make to meet the candidate’s mission and vision


Selection of Discipline for Project Paper

Resulting from the interview and the advice given, the candidate would then select the desired discipline for the eligible professional knowledge qualifications.


Submission of Project Work

Candidates would be required to submit a project paper in their chosen field/major. The candidate would be required to submit his/her project paper within the set dateline.


In-Depth review of Project Paper

An authorised assessor would undertake an in-depth review of the project paper. The project paper should, amongst other contents, also contain an Abstract, Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology, Findings and Analysis, Conclusion and Recommendations, and Bibliography.


Assessors’ Review & Report

The authorised assessor would forward his written report and recommendations based on his in-depth review of the Project Paper and accompanying documents. The candidate would be informed of his/her date for a final review and a viva session.

Final Review and Viva

A final review and viva session would be held with the candidate. The candidate would be required to orally explain his findings, conclusion and recommendation as contained in assignment. It would also be required to explain its implementation and actualisation at workplace.

Credit units towards a professional knowledge qualification would also be raised based on the professional expertise and skill acquired lifelong learning. This coupled with credit units from previous skill and work experience. Credits will also be raised from the corrective measures that is proposed in the project paper in any given situation where there is a problem or problems to be resolved and finally from the overall positive impact that would result from implementation and the benefits realised. Assessment will be made on the actual implementation and results of the assignment and the conclusion will contribute towards Credit Accumulation Transfer (CAT).

Acceptance of Application

Candidates would be informed as to the outcome of the final review and viva session based on the assessor’s review & report. If it is found that the candidate does not meet with the ACPD criteria, he/she would be recommended to apply for the professional knowledge qualification via the ACPD scheme. Successful candidates in the meantime will proceed to certification and graduation.

Certification and Graduation

Successful candidates would be notified in writing, as to the professional degree that is being awarded. The venue, date and time of the graduation ceremony would also be notified in writing to enable the candidate to make appropriate travel arrangements. The above descriptive processes could also be visualised in conjunction and relative to the ACPD process flow chart.
